03 Service Learning

A provincial anti-drug campaign, and a classroom of young engineers

Service learning took two shapes: a public-awareness campaign designed from scratch and delivered across two Wuxi communities, and free engineering and drug-prevention lessons for primary-school pupils.

Brochures, tote bags, a lecture, and a national final

Volunteer organiser & Jiangsu delegate, national anti-drug campaign

I created three-dimensional anti-drug brochures and cloth bags carrying pictures and prevention tips, turning prevention strategy into visual material that community residents could understand at a glance. Over two weeks of design work I produced 120 3D brochures and 100 themed cloth bags.

I then delivered anti-drug awareness presentations to more than 100 residents in the Taihu community and the further Heyun community in Wuxi, independently designing and distributing the materials and collecting feedback through an online survey. Representing Jiangsu Province, I reached the finals of the 2025 National Youth Anti-Drug Knowledge Competition, ranking among the top 11 nationwide.

Free lessons for primary pupils in schools and communities

Volunteer instructor, STEM and drug prevention

I delivered free introductory engineering and drug-prevention courses to approximately 60 students at local elementary schools and in communities in Wuxi, combining basic scientific principles with real-life applications.

I designed five STEM lessons covering circuit design, structural design and basic programming, and adjusted my teaching methods based on classroom interaction and student feedback — the first time I had to design a lesson rather than deliver one.
